Chez Paola

Besides being a food and travel writer, wine buff, art historian and Dutch culture freak, I’m also a Francophile! My love for France is evident all around me. In my house, for example. As soon as you come in, you are greeted by an old, beautifully framed map of France. It was one of the first things we bought when we moved into the house- and it is my pride and joy. Just like so many other things around my house that remind me of France. From my nostalgic country interior to the bunches of lavender hanging all over the house. I am reminded of my beloved France every time I see these things. And the garden, of course. Especially in the summer. Huge hydrangea bushes, loads of lavender and plenty of bright red potted geraniums. There’s also the wonderful aroma of spices such as thyme and rosemary. I listen to French music, practice the language... and I cook, eat and drink like a real Française. I definitely see us permanently living in France in the future, but in the meantime, I am more than happy with my little piece of France.

With Kirstie, my daughter, in our beloved southwest France.
